Welcome to the MergeMe blog. We write about GitHub pull request and GitLab merge request notifications in Slack, especially for teams who outgrew the official GitHub and GitLab Slack apps.

What we'll cover

  • Channel routing: send merge requests to the right Slack channel
  • User mapping: fix broken @mention mapping between git and Slack
  • Label routing: route by GitLab labels or GitHub labels
  • Self-hosted GitLab: webhook setup and troubleshooting
  • Comparisons: honest feature diffs vs official apps and alternatives

How MergeMe is different

The official GitHub and GitLab Slack apps post a new message for every event. MergeMe keeps one updating card per PR/MR, edited in place, with thread replies for review comments.

MergeMe works with GitHub.com, GitLab.com, and self-hosted GitLab in one workspace. Setup takes about five minutes for cloud git hosts.
